Anniversary

Today marks the anniversary day that Eric and I started dating!! I was a mere 16 years old and Eric was 20!! YIKES. Well, I was getting ready to turn 17 in June, but still that seems so young! However; it has been the best 8 years of my life. We've been through so much together. It's amazing it's been that long.

It seems just like yesterday I was a freshman in high school swooning over that senior boy in the lunch room who kept winking at me. (Now he claims he can't wink.) I would always go home tell my Mom how 'Eric Mills was SUCH a HOTTIE.' Mom says those were my exact words.

Eric and I didn't start dating until I was a Junior in H.S. Eric had been away to Vincennes for the past 2 years after he graduated H.S. I had almost forgot about my huge crush I had on him. I was in the lifeguarding class with my friend Brett, when in walked Eric Mills. I immediately started hyperventilating.... After I calmed down, and the first class was over, I had a class with his sister, Michelle. I went on and on to her about how he was so cute... :) Didn't think much about it, until the following Friday I was working my first shift at The Boat Loft restaurant at Delaney Park. If anyone goes down there, they know that the Police Officers are usually down there for Friday Night Fish... Well in walks Eric.... AHHHHH what's a girl to do? I have no idea what I'm doing at work, and to top it off Eric walks in.. My face is beat red. As Eric is leaving, the beginning to the end happened: He asked me out!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! I was really going to go out on a date with ERIC MILLS.... seriously at 16, could you're life get any better? Well, 8 years later, I say No. He is my best friend, husband, and confidant. I couldn't ask for a better life.

911 Gives Hope- Guns Vs. Hoses

Saturday, Eric and I took a day-cation to Evansville for good laughs, great, food, quality time, and an awesome cause.

We had all day to just take the time and enjoy each other's company. We did take a quick detour to say hello to a long lost friend in Lanesville. Every year Eric takes this trip around June to pay his respects to a good friend and classmate from the Police Academy that paid the ultimate sacrifice one day trying to do his job: protect and serve. Whenever Eric takes this trip, I haven't been able to go, so today since this trip was to support his Brothers in Blue, we took an extra trip to Lanesville to visit Frank Denzinger. This was my first meeting with Frank. I just wish I had the chance to meet him on this side. I hear he was a wonderful man. We have his picture hanging in our living room. I admire his wife, Tara Denzinger, for being the strong woman and mother she is to continue to be after her loss. Not to mention we share the same name, as well as our sisters. Her sister's name is Tia, as well as mine. How ironic.

Once we got to Evansville, we went down by the river enjoying the weather, walking, people watching, and even checking out the Casino boat. While we were down by the river, we stopped at Dr. Jung's (the Dr. I work for) parents' restaurant. I can't even describe how delicious the food was!! It was better than P.F. Changs.

A charity event brought us to Evansville. It was put on by a group called '911 Gives Hope.' They put on a boxing match called Guns Vs. Hoses, which is police officers vs. firefighters. (Go Guns! I'm a little partial).

The opening ceremonies were awesome! They did an excellent job giving everyone in the stadium cold chills. The boxing matches were 3 rounds of 1 minute fights. Eric had a friend from Vincennes, that is a police officer fighting. Of course he won. He did great! We were so proud of him supporting the blue so well!
This is part of the opening ceremonies, where they are introducing the police officers and firefighters.
On one side of the stadium they had the police officer and firefighter on a podium, representing the group '911 Gives Hope.'

This is kind of hard to see, but, it's a police car with the lights on, and behind it is a fire truck extending the ladder with the American flag on the front. They extended it into the center of the ring for the National Anthem. They later announced that the flag had actually been over seas with our troops.

The SWOT members and Firefighters post National Anthem. You can sorta see the flag at the top of the picture.

This is Eric's friend, Chris Roe ( in the blue), boxing the lights outta the red! Way to go Chris!!

The charity event was absolutely amazing. Their community rallied together for such a great cause! Eric and I have decided we will make it an annual event! Anyone wants more info on it, just let us know!

'Look at all the people'

Eric had a once in a lifetime opportunity this week:

Yep, that's right, he went to the final game between Butler and Duke. He had the chance to buy the tickets, and I couldn't say no to him. He and Jimmy Strange went together. It sounded like they had a great 'boys night.' Well, he smelled like he had a great time, no I don't mean alcohol, I mean the dreaded WHITE CASTLE. Ugh... At 3 A.M. that's not what you want to be smelling. He was so proud that he smelled like the awful slider... His great Chief made it possible to go to the game. Thanks Scott!!!

Friday night, I had a girls night with my BFF Whitney, who lives down the alley from me. We had dinner at Backroads and treated ourselves to getting our nails done! :) Every girl needs a little pampering.

Saturday, before Eric had to go to work, we went for a drive down to Lake John Hay. I had never been there before and it was too beautiful to stay inside. I saw some cute little creatures sunbathing on a log. I would've taken some more pictures however; there were people on our tail trying to get out.

Eric got his bite suit in the mail this week. I'm anxious to see how Milan does with it! Pics to come later!

Everyone enjoy their week!

Easter 2010

What a gorgeous weekend we had!!!

Eric completed his day of training in Noblesville/Fishers area on Thursday. He had a blast!! He didn't take any pictures though. :( He did come home with quite the 'farmers tan.' He said Milan did EXCELLENT, despite the heat. Usually if Milan gets really hot, he starts breathing out his mouth and not through his nose, which is what he needs to use to be effective.

This weekend was just about relaxation. I was off work on Friday, hoping to sleep in, but my internal alarm clock woke me up at 8:30 A.M. Oh well, I got a lot accomplished. Friday night, had a lot of laughs with a few friends! It was a great time!

Today, Eric and I spent Easter lunch at Little York with his side of the family. His dad, Joe, made a great lunch filled with ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, broccoli casserole, and of course 3 layer desert! It was WonDerFul. Eric definitaely didn't get his cooking skills from his parents! :) They are excellent cooks! Eric is a master on the grill, not in the kitchen.

I always take the camera out to Little York, because you just never know what you might miss. We have tons of pictures of the boys and the miscellaneous animals out there. Laken, our oldest nephew, has recently got some ducks for his pond. He let them out on the pond today. And Logan, our youngest nephew, LOVES to ride the mower, or his motorcycle (big wheel). He gets really upset when he has to come in.... Needless to say, he was upset today...

I usually try to take a few 'sit down' pictures of them for the holidays, however; today, neither one of the boys wanted anything to do with pictures. Here's the best that I got!

Hope everyone has a great week!!
